A secluded and private, walled courtyard garden at the rear of a terrace house near Fiveways in the heart of Paddington, NSW. This garden was designed and built in an older style by Peter Wyburd in 1971 for a young family. This enchanting terrace at Villa Sofie in Saturnia is elevated above an olive grove - through which fireflies fly at night in summer - and is paved with the local travertine stone. The terrace is framed by olive trees under which lavenders grow in profusion, and box hedging. Geraniums in terracotta pots, together with rows of grape vines at the base of the wall, secure the edge of the terrace from the drop to the land below. Ask a question |
